Preparation

  1. Take the tomahawk steaks out of the fridge and leave them to come to room temperature. Pat the meat thoroughly dry. Take your time and get everything ready so you don’t have to rummage around when you’re at the barbecue.

  2. Light the barbecue with the XCelsius BBQ lighter and make sure you have a bed of clean, glowing coals. Time to get the BBQ going. Give it plenty of time to stabilise before you carry on.

  3. Blow any excess ash off the coals. Place the steaks directly onto the hot coals for the caveman method. Take it easy and follow the steps at a leisurely pace – that way, barbecuing stays fun.

  4. Carefully turn the meat over after a short while. Shake any loose bits of cabbage off the meat when you lift it. Keep a relaxed pace and follow the steps at your own speed – that way, barbecuing stays fun.

  5. Cook until the desired core temperature is reached. Use a thermometer and always work with the XCelsius BBQ gloves. Keep a close eye on the preparation and carry on calmly following the recipe.

  6. Leave the steaks to rest, sprinkle with salt and cut into thick slices along the bone. Keep a close eye on the cooking and carry on calmly following the recipe.

  7. Time to sit down to dinner. Serve up the dish, grab a cold drink to go with it, and enjoy – from all of us at XCelsius.
